This is definitely an under the radar Japanese classic motorcycle investment that will clearly deliver great returns in the future, as owning this machine is certainly placing yourself ahead of the curve. You can read more about the history of this great machine here. Their reputation was damaged by problems with the camshafts that Honda seriously mismanaged when these motorcycles were new. One of the biggest issues they suffered from was owners not changing the coolant every year and clearing any sludge from the inside of the frame rails which held the coolant. Today this is a simple to overcome issue and this machine has had the inside of the frame scrupulously cleaned and the bike is now ready to enjoy. It rides like a new motorcycle, is beautifully set up to enjoy and will be reliable for many more years, provided it is serviced properly. Thorough restoration

This machine was sourced in Holland and has been the subject of a beautiful restoration with step by step photos of the work undertaken all written up in a workshop file. All of the body work is extremely high quality racing specification fibreglass made by hand at Honda’s HRC department especially for these machines. As such, age has caused a certain amount of shrinkage in the fibreglass which meant we had to to do a lot of work to the fairing to make the fitting hole align properly. Much of the paint was good, but failing, so we removed the lacquer and restored the paint to original specification, using modern 2K paint. We perfectly matched the level of shine and orange peel finish to the original paint so that the motorcycle looks like an unrestored and perfectly preserved original example. The rear shock absorber has been replaced, but the failing original shock absorber is included in the sale. The frame rails carry coolant on these machines and coolant must be changed annually to avoid a build up of sludge in the frame rails. Owners often failed to do this and it would cause terrible problems with the cylinder heads. We have already cleaned the frame tubes and ensured there will be no further problems provided the correct servicing is undertaken. The frame paint needed attention and we matched this perfectly and ensured it is now up to the required standard. Carbs were cleaned and set up correctly, valve clearances set and all engine paint was restored to an exceptionally high standard. You can see a couple of the photos from the workshop file in the photo gallery and you can see our YouTube video here.

Japanese classic motorcycle investment

This is a great classic Japanese motorcycle investment, as it is somewhat forgotten, yet it marked the rise of the Homologation special. Japanese homologation motorcycles are only just really beginning to attract the attention they so rightly deserved. These machines were undermined by Honda’s refusal to address oil supply problems to the heads, which they ended up having to do making this a sorry time in the manufacturer’s history, and they were then overshadowed by the Kawasaki GPZ900R and Suzuki’s wild GSXR750 and 1100. Without this motorcycle the RC30 would never have seen the light of day. This Japanese classic offers a great entry point to classic motorcycle investment and any owner incredible value. Having done so much work to the machine, we are happy to offer our one year unlimited mileage warranty.
