Rare early Ducati 900SS Mike Hailwood Replica for sale. Yes there are loads of MHRs for sale, but not like this one. It is one of the first “about 200” examples and is therefore a very valuable and rare vintage Ducati indeed. It is also a great vintage Ducati investment. You can read more about these early Mike Hailwood Replicas here, where you can read what the legendary Ducati expert Ian Fallon has to say about these. Ian Fallon believes that these early examples will be the “Green Frame” of the future, so it is a great vintage motorcycle investment. No one knows exactly how many of them were built, it’s clear it was not much more than 200, but no one knows the final chassis number of these. What is certain is that vintage motorcycle collectors globally are just beginning to understand their value and prices are rising for genuine pieces like this.

This particular example is very original and has around 43,000 kms (about 26,600 miles). It spent sixteen years in a motorcycle museum between 2004 and the present day. This has preserved the inside of the petrol tank. Paintwork is all completely original (yes we have enhanced the colours as we have to for photos of this resolution for the internet). The hallmark differences between this very early Series 1 machine is it sports Campagnolo magnesium wheels, gold Brembo brakes, early forks, single seat and a high cut petrol tank. All Series 1 machines came with a one piece fairing, which had its draw backs but adds to the appeal for collectors.

Prices have increased sharply on these “about 200” first models as word from Ian Fallon got out, but these rare Ducati still offer incredible value and will offer motorcycle investors incredible returns. We will work our magic on the machine, blowing in any chips or scratches with airbrushes, rejuvenating any faded paint without respraying and preserving this magnificent, rare and original motorcycle. We will set the motor up correctly to enjoy just as it was set up by the factory. To know more call The Motorcycle Broker on 01803 865166.
