1982 Ducati 900SS for sale in incredible unrestored condition. The machine started life in South Africa where it spent its life garaged and very well cherished. It was later imported into the UK where it was in a static collection when we acquired it for our client who is overseas. We have had it in storage since 2020 and are now recommissioning for use, having already set the motor up to run sweetly. The machine comes with an authentication email from Ian Falloon who commented on how original the machine is, it even retains the original factory stamped screen. The single seat was a factory option and is identified as genuine by the zip and vinyl. Being a South African model it came with Contis and the 40mm Delortos as standard, as South Africa was one of only a handful of markets allowed to sell these Ducatis in this spec when new. The paint all appears to be completely original and in exquisite condition. These last series from the 900SS are renowned as having the best motor and gearbox of all the bevel drive Ducati 900SS series. Unrestored bevel drive Ducatis are almost impossible to find now in this kind of condition and this is definitely one of the best we have ever seen.
Unrestored Ducati Bevel Drive

This example needs leaving as is, because it is in museum quality condition. The seat is an original factory item from exactly 1982 and there is no information to understand whether this was a factory option bought new with the machine or if they were supplied with this seat when new in South Africa. Certainly for the South African market, these machines were usually ordered new with 40mm carbs and Contis, as there were no homologation rules for this territory. The factory single seat is painted in original paint, perfectly matched to this particular machine, so it is highly likely that the machine was supplied new with this seat as an option when new from the factory. The velocity stacks are later than 1982, but the rest of the bike is certainly spot on. The condition of all the paintwork is superb and clearly appears to be original paint from 1982. There is a slight lifting of small bits of paint on the wheels, which is to be expected and is usually far worse on machines of this age. The bike has the original CEV headlight, rear light, switch gear and all of the electrics work perfectly. The motor has had a full carb rebuild, full service and oil change and runs perfectly, nearly always starting first kick, even when cold.
