A stunning and highly original very early Moto Guzzi Le Mans MK1 for sale. This is the most collectible of the Le Mans series and the most brutish, being one of the first five hundred units built and they were unique in many ways.. A great and under valued classic motorcycle investment that is bound to become an appreciating asset and which has already increased in value far more than any other of the Moto Guzzi Le Mans MK1 series. These are very rare indeed, especially in such original and tip top condition, which we have already done a lot of work to when we first supplied it. A truly investment grade example of this beautiful Italian classic motorcycle. This example is one of the first five hundred units ever produce and they have many differences all over them, which all are present and correct. Finding such an original piece is really very tough and there are very few left. We have completely rebuilt the top end adding a 950cc conversion kit, all new lower cam followers, rocker, rocker pins and bushes. The motor is set up beautifully and ready for running in. This is probably one of the only Moto Guzzi MK1 Le Mans with a motor which is mechanically silent. The paint has been stripped back to the bare substrate, the fibreglass reinforced, colours perfectly matched and the factory finish perfectly replicated. The original seat is included with this machine which has a later version fitted for riding as the original is not replaceable. This machine has recently been featured in the VMCC magazine, as you can see in the article in the photos.
Rare original Le Mans MK1
This is a rare original Le Mans MK1, as these first 500 examples are the most collectible of this most collectible series. When they are this original, these first 500 units are considered quite a unicorn Italian classic motorcycle. This one retains the original switch gear, the original rear light which only these first 500 early examples shared with the early Ducati 900SS. The same is true of the original, unique tachometer which shows 4000 RPM at 12 O’clock instead of 5000 RPM at 12 O’clock and has no trip meter. The 950cc conversion has to be fitted now to any of these machines which require a rebore or new pistons, as The originals are no longer available. This does not compromise reliability in any way and is now a common upgrade which does not affect values. This piece still retains the black Lafranconi silencers, unlike most of these classic motorcycles today, the front down pipes have been treated in Cerakote and they are corrosion free. The paint work is in the condition it left the factory, the motor has been set up to breathe fire and launch the rider into the horizon. This is a glorious example of an iconic and rarest of all the MK1 Le Mans and this classic Italian motorcycle is a great investment. These are nearly impossible to find, let alone as original as this example and in this condition. To understand more about the history of these fire breathing beasts you can check out this article.
Moto Guzzi racing heritage
Moto Guzzi racing heritage is a little more under the radar, nonetheless, they blew the racing world away with their exceptional V8 racer in the 1950s. Designed to take on Ducati, they rotated their V motor to be a transverse mounted across the frame unit. It came with one front brake linked to the rear master cylinder and the other working off of the front master cylinder. Moto Guzzi looked at engineering from a different perspective and challenged the motorcycling world with their fine engineering. This machine has been put through our thorough workshop processes to ensure it is reliable and in investment grade condition. Imported from Italy in 2020, it has been verified as genuine by the Italian Vintage Motorcycle Club (FMI) with its gold plaque on the handlebars.
