Brand new Ducati 996 SPS FR2 for sale. The Ducati 916 SP and 996 SPS series is one of the most iconic classic Italian motorcycles in modern motorcycling history. The FR2 stands for Factory Replica 2 which was built to homologate further parts for mid season racing performance. These are referred to in Ian Falloon’s book and they are very rare indeed. When they were new these machines were either bought by race teams to race them, or by eager owners to ride the wheels off of them. It is incredibly rare to find a new example which has only covered 3 kms having been pushed for those short kms. The machine comes with the Termignonis in a box which have never been fitted, all books and the bag still in a sealed bag, just like it did the day it was bought new. There is not a mark anywhere on the machine and is in the pristine condition you would expect to see it in, if it had been kept in the Ducati museum from the day it was manufactured. This is a perfect museum condition Ducati 996 SPS FR2. The new 996cc engine was more reliable and much stronger than the 916 series which preceded it. Carl Fogarty won the World Superbike championship in legendary style aboard thee masterpieces of engineering that are clearly also works of art.
