1975 Benelli Sei 750, the first ever production six cylinder motorcycle, is a very rare Italian classic motorcycle indeed. The motorcycle was supplied by us and imported from Italy in 2020, because it is an incredibly original example of this very rare machine. First introduced in 1972 shortly after De Tomaso bought the Benelli brand, these six cylinder machines were very rare back then. With only 3,200 series machines built, original examples are like the proverbial hens teeth. We sourced this machine after a typical Italian restoration, which left a lot to be desired, however the impossible to source parts like original switch gear were left in tact. After registering the machine on an age related plate we undertook a full frame-off restoration of this motorcycle and have since covered over 100 miles of successful test riding and shaking down, so this machine is ready for delivery now. To know what this machine is really like to own and ride, read our road test here.

Authentic restoration

We already have an excellent reputation for authentic restoration, having won most exceptional motorcycle at Salòn Privé 2021, as you can see here. We go to a lot of trouble to ensure that our paint finishes look authentic, like the original cellulose finish but using modern 2K paint. This Benelli Sei 750 comes with original wheel rims, switch gear on both sides of the handlebars, clocks, genuine handle bars and the correct paint scheme. When these machines are restored, the paint scheme on the petrol tank is often incorrect, as the pin stripes are sprayed on and not stickers. It is a very challenging paint scheme to get correct, but after much research and many, many hours in the spray booth it is absolutely as it left the factory. The frame has been blasted and repainted and looks like original paint, but is modern 2K. Wheels have been dismantled, cleaned, polished and reassembled, retaining the original Boriani rims. The top end of the motor was completely rebuilt and repainted to the exact factory finishes. The troublesome alternator bearing has been correctly replaced and the carbs fully refurbished using Dellorto parts. The gearbox was fine, as they are fairly strong, and the clutch rebuilt and fettled to work correctly. The machine has been subject to a full rewire and the seat repainted and the original cover re-fitted. As with all of our motorcycles, this has been subjected to vigorously being test ridden up and down the one in four hills of Dartmoor to chase out any hidden problems. You can see how much work this machine was treated to in our article about its restoration here.

Benelli Sei 750

This Benelli Sei 750 is as close as possible to bring a new example from the factory way back in 1975. All of those details are present and correct, the machine comes with our one year unlimited mileage no quibble warranty. These six cylinder Benelli are very rare and the rarest is the series one example like this. It represents a far reaching change in the motorcycle arms race of the 1970s and this example is telling that story beautifully. Few motorcycles hold such a place in motorcycling history, making this a real under the radar Italian classic motorcycle. The only motorcycle with six individual exhausts as standard makes this machine stand out from the crowd. Benelli dropped the six exhausts once the 750 Sei grew to 900cc, as it made the machines too expensive to produce. It’s clear that the Benelli Sei 750 will increase in value substantially over the coming years, as they are so rare and hold such a significant place in motorcycling history. Would Honda have created the CBX1000 if Benelli had not developed and sold the Sei? This is a great opportunity to acquire a fully restored, investment grade 1975 series one Benelli Sei 750 with a one year unlimited mileage warranty.
