1994 Ducati 916 SP for sale and this one has had everything done to it, so it is almost like buying a new one from Ducati and it is a very low mileage and original example. This 1994 first series is the rarest of the 916 SP series, because they only made 310 units. However, they were in such short supply when new with an unrivalled demand for racing that most were sold to race teams. Obviously most of these 1994 first edition Ducati 916 SP didn’t survive for twenty five years, ending up being broken for spares or still exist as a racing motorcycle and are almost impossible to restore. Finding an investment grade 1994 Ducati 916 SP is like finding the holy grail of Ducati 916 SP investment. Ducati 916 SP prices have been increasing aggressively in the last year especially, as we wrote about in this article about Ducati 916 SP prices after this less rare 1995 model achieved a record price at auction. You can see the less rare 1995 model which sold for £42,750 at Silverstone Auctions earlier this year. Ducati 916 SP price rises are beginning due to motorcycle collectors and Ferrari owners becoming aware of these iconic machines, as they are clearly the Ferrari F40 of classic motorcycles. There are very few machines left and investment grade examples are almost impossible to find. This 1994 example offers the pinnacle of Ducati 916 SP investment and riding joy.
Restored 1994 Ducati 916 SP
This restored 1994 Ducati 916 SP Verase is incredibly original and the work we did was as light touch and thorough as possible. We featured this particular motorcycle in this article about all Ducati 916 need work doing due to age. We sourced this example for our customer in 2020 with a genuine 4,000 miles and full Ducati history because it came with all of the impossible to find parts. As is often the case, although the dealers who serviced it had taken money for the servicing, the work had not been done, so we did it and it now runs as a new example would run. With Ducatis of this age nearly all of them suffer badly from paint degradation which we took care of and the machine is now like new. All body panels are from the correct year (except for the screen, which we may well be able to source now). All of the body panels were perfectly colour matched, taken back to the bare substrate and painted exactly to match the original factory finish. The photos show how we had the rear Ohlins shock absorber rebuilt, all engine and frame paint has been beautifully and carefully restored with a much tougher paint system than the factory used in 1994. All work has been photographed and fully documented which will come with the machine. It comes with the original Cagiva aluminium silencers, Ducati stand and Ducati books.
Investment 1994 grade Ducati 196 SP
This investment grade 1994 Ducati 916 SP is now in perfect condition and ready to be ridden and enjoyed for the next thirty years. Although factory records are vague, Ian Falloon has authenticated through factory records that this example is a February/March 1994 Verase production. In my interview with Ian Fallon about these machines ion our video page (it’s the last video on the right side of the page about Ducati 916) he confirms that they cannot distinguish between the 916 Strada and the 916 SP, so other due diligence must be used over what the factory say. However, it has now been confirmed as a Verase 1994 machine. This motorcycle has passed the appropriate due diligence, has all of the correct parts is in the middle of known chassis and engine numbers of known authenticated 916 SPs from 1994 and has the original engine. It is a beautiful, investment grade 1994 Ducati 916 SP which is ready to ride, enjoy and a stunning and original example.
