Ducati 996R for sale

A genuine Ducati 996R which has had a full frame of restoration completed by us just over a year ago. Ducatis of this age are now starting to show their age, as you can read in this article we wrote back in 2020 about Ducati 916 need work due to age.Although this example had been very well looked after and was always well serviced, the machine looked great wit the bodywork on, but once removed the corrosion was clear. You can see from the photos the failing paint and get an idea of the work we did. All paint and finishes have been perfectly matched and all surfaces were taken back to the bare substrate. The resulting restoration makes this example look like a brand new machine that has just been uncrated as the presentation is so accurate. It takes a lot longer tho make a machine look like this than it does to make it overly shiny and inauthentic. It takes a lot longer tho make a machine look like this than it does to make it overly shiny and inauthentic. Our restorations have won Salon Privé Concours D’Elegance 2021 and the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show 2023 because we ensure that our machines are authentic in every way. The motor has been correctly serviced and set up for absolute joy and reliability. We will, as a matter of course, change the oil, cam belts, tensioner bearings, oil filter and fuel filter, even though the machine has barely been ridden since the full restoration. The reason for sale is that the owner has moved home and has no room, so you can view the machine at our premises.

Limited edition Ducati

The 996R is a limited edition Ducati with just 500 units being built for World Superbike Homologation. The motors were all sandcast with a much deeper sump to increase oil capacity for the motor, larger radiator and oil cooler. The motor went to 998cc with a shorter stroke, the new Teststretta (narrow head) cylinder heads helped to add more power, which were carried over to the 999 series, which is noticeable when riding these machines as they were 10% more powerful than the 996 SPS. Bodywork was all carbon and the side vents of the earlier machines went to assist with aerodynamics. The specification of these machines is really quite outstanding with Ohlins rear shock, Ohlins front forks, Marchesini wheels and titanium Termignoni silencers. These enormous upgrades were to homologate the machine for World Superbike and the changes proved worth the effort as the 996R racer won the World Superbike championship in 2001. As a limited edition Ducati the 996R is of the highest specification and is one of the rarest homologation specials made by the Bologna factory. Many of these machines were used as track day tools once they were five plus years old, but this one was very well cared for prior to the restoration.

Investment grade Ducati 996R

This investment grade Ducati 996R is now ready to be enjoyed for many years to come. The original finishes from Bologna were rather questionable and didn’t last at this point in the factory’s history. Although this example was kept in a heated garage for all of its life, it did look lovely with the bodywork fitted, but once the bodywork was removed, the failing paint finishes were obvious. The fairing panels were all undamaged, but there were quite a few stone chips, which is why we had to dismantle and restore the machine. The work has been painstakingly completed to the highest standard and the machine comes with free UK mainland delivery and a one year unlimited mileage warranty. There is also a full due diligence and photographic workshop file demonstrating all of the processes this investment grade Ducati 996R underwent.
